I am so happy to share that this month Coaching for Inner Peace celebrates its second birthday. ?
How it all began and our mission
About two years ago, the name ‘Coaching for Inner Peace’ was ‘given’ to me in a moment of inspiration. My thinking mind had nothing to do with coming up with this name. In fact, at that time, I was struggling to decide on a name. I had already purchased a half dozen other domain names. But nothing seemed to fit.
But when ‘Coaching for Inner Peace’ came into my awareness, I felt something ‘click.’
Having said this, sometimes a name needs to just grow on you. Or you need to grow into the name. This has been my experience. Even the mission statement has become clear gradually so now I can share it in just one sentence:
To share tools for healing that allow everyone everywhere – regardless of the challenge they are facing, regardless of their ability to pay – to find a path that leads them to inner peace.
Is inner peace even possible?
I have heard some people say …
How can we even think of being peaceful when we look at the state of the world?
How can we be at peace – when there is rampant poverty, growing inequality, prejudice and intolerance, senseless shooting and killing, growing epidemics of disease, and increasing environmental threats?
How can I be at peace when so many all over the world face so much pain, depression, anxiety and sorrow on a daily basis?
Is it even responsible to feel peaceful? Shouldn’t we all be ‘doing’ something instead of just ‘being’ peaceful?
And I would say, given exactly how things are- how can we choose NOT to walk a path of inner peace?
Because inner peace is not a static state of mind but rather a way of being that is responsive, but not reactive. A way to show up with an intent to be helpful without interfering. Being present but not pushing any agenda. Offering of oneself yet not feeling overwhelmed.
If someone was sick with fever and they became delirious, and began to see hallucinations of terror and pain, would we join with them in their nightmare?
If someone fell into a ditch, would we jump into the ditch with them?
If a child starts to have a temper tantrum, do we join with them and also start to throw things around and yell and scream?
These questions are all rhetorical. Of course, the answer would be no. We would find a way to heal the one with fever. We would extend an arm to help the one climb out of the ditch. And we would find a way to comfort and soothe the child having a tantrum.
When we have inner peace, we are stable, centered and focused so we CAN facilitate healing in others with love. What is wonderful is that we can do this by drawing from an inner reservoir so we do not feel drained or overwhelmed. In fact, after each coaching session I feel energized and experience even a greater devotion to follow the path of inner peace.
Having said this, the path of inner peace is not easy. I tell my clients that we all are like ‘gentle warriors.’ We move with gentleness because we share the gifts of inner peace- which are joy, love and happiness with everyone in our lives. Yet we are also warriors because each day we commit to unearthing and healing the demons and dragons within our own minds that stand in the way of inner peace.
The process of coaching has shown me that profound healing can happen if we have a powerful joining with another who can hold a space of love and safety. Accepting us where we are in the mess that is often life- yet knowing that beneath it all is an infinite reservoir of Light, Love and Peace.
