In her book, The Meaning of Mary Magdalene: Discovering the Woman at the Heart of Christianity, Cynthia Bourgeault, pastor, scholar, and mystic writes that “when a new infusion of love is needed, Mary Magdalene shows up. Our only real choice is whether or not to cooperate.”
A new infusion of love
Yes, it does feel to me that Mary Magdalene is certainly an infusion of love. And I did not even know that I was in need of this love!
Mary Magdalene, or Maggie, as I refer to her affectionately, simply showed up in my life through books, movies, and photos that just seemed to find me. Just in the span of a some months, I felt such a resonance with her loving and light-filled presence that Maggie became a trusted and wise elder sister. Do you know that feeling you have when you feel a deep connection with someone that seems to transcend time and space? You just feel so comfortable and easy in their presence. Like you have known them your entire life or even lifetimes. If you subscribe to the belief in lifetimes, you will know what I mean. 🙂
My only choice is whether or not to cooperate
Sharing this retreat is my way of saying yes to Mary Magdalene in a bigger way. To share my love for her, my growing faith in her teachings, my longing to connect to her in a deeper way- to share this all with each of you. And to allow our collective presence to be a source of healing for the One Mind of which we are each a beautiful part.
I received this message from Maggie about a week ago and it seems to be a perfect introduction to the vibe of this coming weekend retreat.
Mary Magdalene’s message:
I am here with you to show you that each moment is a beautiful crystal reflecting light, shining light, a portal of entry into peace, into the Beloved.
Each moment is precious.
There is no need to distinguish one as better than another.
For they all offer the possibility of a portal into Heaven.
The mundane and the sacred,
The temporal and the eternal collide into One.
The only One that is Real, the Good which I directed all the apostles towards.
And I am directing you and all who choose to join you.
I am shepherding you all into the light.
Where I am.
I asked Maggie how she’s in the light and also shepherding us? Here is what I heard:
It is not static. Your mind sees it as separate because you have created the fractals of time.
But here, it does not operate as you think it to operate.
It is fluid.
It is flux.
It is One.
Because there is no separation.
It’s a whole new way of thinking.
Don’t try to understand it with your mind, the intellectual mind.
There is a deeper knowing that is emerging.
And this can be a relatively easy ride if you let me guide you and lead the way.
So will you join me?
The retreat will be held online via Zoom on May 15th – 17th, 2020.
Here are the times we will meet:
Friday May 15th from 7pm to 9pm EDT.
Saturday May 16th from 11am to 1pm EDT and 3pm to 6pm EDT
Sunday May 17th from 11am EDT to 1pm EDT.
On Friday, we will gather and spend time sharing about our experiences with Mary Magdalene, what she means to us, and what is the desire of our heart as we embark on the retreat.
Saturday we will spend some time preparing to watch the 2019 Mary Magdalene movie, discussing the main themes we want to explore, and then spend the bulk of the morning session and part of the afternoon session watching the movie. We will pause the movie as it feels guided so we can truly absorb all the wisdom that is shared. We will also have time for expression and sharing our response to the movie.
Sunday we will gather for some processing of what has come up as we watched the movie and how we can move forward to implement some of the insights we have gained.
There will be time spent in group prayer/meditation as well as listening to inspiring music that will complement the message of Mary Magdalene.
