May movie of the month: Finding Joe
I recall the first time I heard about Joseph Campbell was in 1988. My mom introduced him to me via a PBS documentary of Bill Moyers interviewing Campbell in a 6-part series called the Power of Myth. I was a premed student struggling to stay afloat with the rigors of school, studying and exams. Much of what was shared went right above my head.
Yet no wise teaching can be lost and over the years, Joseph Campbell has become a wonderful guide and mentor to me through his books, DVDs and now a 2011 documentary called about his work and influence called Finding Joe.
Campbell has inspired me to awaken and follow that calling deep inside my heart for something bigger, deeper and greater than an independent life lived for individual gain and profit. His work has motivated me and so many others including famous writers, artists, teachers and entrepreneurs to reach more deeply within, fly higher and ultimately live a life of purpose that not only allows us to fulfill our divine destiny but also share our gifts with our world.
