I have always been deeply inspired by stories that heal and expand our heart. Parables that help us see that there are resources within us that can light our path- no matter how challenging or dark it may seem. Often, we must go through the darkness to experience authentic light and love.
Meet my new friend and kindred spirit, Gurpreet Gill.
I met her through her poem What if that went viral on Facebook in the early days of the Coronavirus. (Wow, it has only been three weeks in lockdown for us in Rochester, NY but there is already a sense of the pre-Corona days. I do feel like we are witnessing history in the making.)
If you are not familiar with the poem, here is how it begins:
There is so much fear, and perhaps rightfully so, about COVID-19.
And, what if…
If we subscribe to the philosophy that life is always working out for us, that there is an intelligence far greater than humans at work…
That all is interconnected.
What if…
the virus is here to help us?
To reset.
To remember.
What is truly important.

Gurpreet’s poem showed up in perfect divine timing because I was just beginning the daily Coronavirus miracles healing zoom circles. The poem felt like it was hand delivered by Spirit/the inner wisdom to help me retranslate the Corona experience from one of fear to one of coming together in love and healing.
Of course, I wanted to know more about Gurpreet Gill! I immediately recognized from her name that we shared a common Punjabi Indian heritage. Then I heard more about her backstory during an online zoom workshop, and I felt inspired to reach out to her and invite her to come and share her experiences with us. And I am so happy she agreed! 🙂
About Gurpreet
Gurpreet is a Conscious Breathwork practitioner, intuitive energy healer, and integration coach/guide who currently resides in Colorado. In her previous life, she was an educator working as an adjunct professor in the Faculty of Education for University of Colorado in Boulder as well as a French and Science educator for the Boulder Valley School District. Gurpreet was heading towards a full-fledged academic career when the universe made it clear that her destiny lay in the world of healing. Her entry into becoming a healer certainly seemed to be a trial by fire- as a result of the immense trauma, PTSD, and physical injuries sustained during a mudslide in the 2013 floods, which had been preceded by a serious traumatic brain injury (TBI) in Dec. 2011.
Gurpreet writes: The Universe delivered a 1-2 blow as I guess I was stubborn in my previous type A personality. Connecting with my breath, learning how to trust it and its intelligence, and to trust and to allow the unfolding of the breath journey, I experienced profound shifts and also came to realize that I would like to offer this powerful-yet-gentle healing to others. Initiation into the world of medicine work evolved naturally as I explored ways to heal immense, intense PTSD.
Why I wanted to invite her for our zoom circles
I LOVE inspiring stories that demonstrate the resilience of the spirit within our hearts and minds that often we don’t experience first-hand unless we experience some suffering. It need not be that way but it does seem to be that way often. In these Corona times, when many of us feel fearful, anxious, uncertain, angry, frustrated and confused, we need teachers and healers like Gurpreet who have themselves experienced the floor be pulled under their feet and somehow found a soft yet sturdy place to land. 🙂
I hope you can join me tomorrow and please share this invite with your friends.
