The prayer of my heart was to share a message for Thanksgiving that would be most helpful. Yet I felt some hesitation; so many are facing some loss, sorrow, pain or some form of suffering which might make it very difficult if not impossible for them to feel authentic gratitude.
A sentence from A Course in Miracles comes to mind which truly helped me see this dilemma I was facing in a different way:
“It is insane to offer thanks because of suffering. But it is equally insane to fail in gratitude to One Who offers you the certain means whereby all pain is healed, and suffering replaced with laughter and with happiness.”
This is the message of Thanksgiving that resonates for me today. This I can take within and find comfort- not because I can feel gratitude for suffering in any form either in my life or that of my brothers or sisters. But because I feel so grateful that I have been given a way through the suffering. A way shared by the Inner Teacher, the Beloved Presence within that can never fail me.
The Beloved within my heart gently calls me to a path of forgiveness that helps me see everything and everyone in a fresh and different way. A vision given to me that allows me to connect with steady peace and love which nourishes me like a brisk rainfall quenches the thirsty fields. Once I am filled from within by the Beloved, then the peace and love naturally flow from me. |
This is the way I invite you each to walk with me. Because we need each other to be mighty companions on this path.
My gratitude today to each of you for joining with me today on this path of true Thanks-giving for knowing this other way is always available to us. No matter what, no matter who, no matter where.
